On February 26th, right on the heels of a successful E-Week Banquet, many of us showed up bright and early to assist in the MATHCOUNTS competition. A special thank you to our sponsors and volunteers for making this event a huge success. A special thank you to Lin Li, PE, ENV SP (WASD); Sam Gonzalez, PE (RS&H); Jeff Easley, PE (Hanson); and Jeff (Miami Dade College) for their continued leadership in putting together this great event.
This year we had a record 39 teams and about 240 students participating in the competition. Florida Engineering Society Miami Chapter appreciates the strong presence of our volunteers (42), including FES members, FES Miami Dade College Chapter Students, and FES FIU Chapter Students. We are thankful for the support of Miami Dade College Kendall Campus for providing a great venue for this exciting and fun event, and the efficient and successful registration drive from Public Schools by Ms. Annie Klian and her staff, at the Department of Mathematics and Science of Miami Dade County Public Schools. Special thanks go to our sponsors: Hanson Professional Services, Inc. and iD TECH.
We congratulate all participating students for their performance during the rounds of competition. Last but not the least, we owe our gratitude to MathCounts coaches for your dedication in the education excellence in middle school mathematics.
The top 10 individuals and the 4 top ranked teams will head to Daytona Beach for the state competition. Good luck to all!
