Belinda Bacon, PE, Esq. has previously served on the Board of Directors and currently serves as Secretary for FES Miami Chapter. She has been active with the Mathcounts and Future City sponsored competitions and is seeking the opportunity to continue to be a part of the Miami Chapter with the Vice-President nomination. She maintains her practice as a Florida Board-Certified Construction Lawyer in Miami, litigating and otherwise resolving disputes related to building defects, construction liens and contract issues. Ms. Bacon also works on front-end contract documents for infrastructure improvements, new buildings and major renovations. She became licensed as a Florida Professional Engineer in 1996 based on her engineering experience in the fields of water supply and transportation. Her engineering work began as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer. Ms. Bacon worked within Kenya’s Ministry of Water Development to help people get cleaner water closer to their homes through gravity-flow piping schemes, pumping schemes and building stone and mortar rain-catchment cisterns for schools and health centers. Upon her return to the States, Ms. Bacon began working in the Washington, D.C. area on various transportation planning and design projects. Ms. Bacon received her engineering education at Duke University and attended law school at the College of William & Mary.
