Elia Nuñez, PE
Director 3

Ms. Elia Nuñez has 24 years of civil engineering and project management experience. She is currently the Assistant Director of Transit planning, design and development at Miami-Dade County. She is responsible for advancing the SMART plan corridors and implementing infrastructure projects. Previously, Ms. Nuñez also managed the Public Works and Capital Projects for the City of Miami and held the Public Works Director position at the Town of Miami Lakes. She has demonstrated success in managing architectural and engineering projects for the State, County, Municipality, and Private sectors throughout the years. She has extensive experience in transportation and infrastructure designs (highway/roadway, drainage systems, signalization, signing, utility, pavement markings and lighting). She has a proven ability to implement standards and procedures that have improved department and business functionality. She has developed and maintained strong client relationships.

Ms. Nuñez is very involved in the Kids and the Power of Work (KAPOW) program, focusing on mentoring elementary school students. She is a member of the MDCPS STEM Advisory Board where she supports and focuses on engaging students in career paths and opportunities in the engineering field and leads the FES K-12 Committee.
