JOSE (JOE) L. GOMEZ, PE

Joe Gomez has over 39 years of diverse civil engineering, transportation planning, design and construction experience. He has managed and directed large-scale transportation projects including major multi-level interchanges, arterial corridors and bridge replacements. Within his 39 years of professional experience, he spent over 10 years with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) at District Six in various capacities; as District PD&E Engineer, District Construction Engineer and for 3 ½ years as District Director of Operations in responsible charge of all construction, traffic operations and maintenance on the state highway system for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Joe has also served on eight Dispute Review Boards (DRBs) for FDOT and MDX. He is Senior Vice President of Engineering for Keith and Schnars and is responsible for all engineering operations, marketing and business development for the Florida Region. As part of his civic involvement Joe is currently serving as Chair of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) for Jackson Health System’s General Obligation Bond Program.

Joe is a native of Havana, Cuba and has called Miami his home since November 25, 1961. He is a 1981 graduate of FIU with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida since 1985. He is the former recipient of the Jay W. Brown Award from the FDOT for “Outstanding Managerial and Leadership Abilities” and has been recognized twice by Miami-Dade College as a “Distinguished Alumni”. He resides in unincorporated Miami-Dade County with his wife, Maggie and two step children, Nancy and Alfred and is the proud Father of two daughters, Gisselle and Melissa, both graduates of Florida International University
