Mr. Kumar Yogesh Shah is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering at Florida International University (FIU), specializing in design, manufacturing, turbo machines, and renewable energy. He currently works as a Graduate Assistant for Center for Diversity and Student Success in Engineering and Computing, as well as a Researcher/Project Affiliate for the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering since 2018. He is currently in his second term as the Florida Engineering Society’s (FES) Student Professional Development Committee Chair and as the FES Miami Student Chapter’s Strategic Consultant. His duties and goals are to oversee all FES Student Chapter’s in the state in order to help them succeed as a chapter.

Mr. Shah received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at FIU in 2019. As an undergraduate, he joined FIU’s FES Student Chapter in 2017, as the chapter’s Secretary. With his involvement and passion, Mr. Shah and his team made FIU FES active again, bring the total member enrollment from 20 to 180 members, as well as hosting over 30+ events; throughout the 2017-2018 school year. During the 2018-2019 school year, Mr. Shah serves as the chapter’s President, hosting over 100+ participations including 25+ Outreaches. He successfully guided the FIU FES chapter to become the 2019 most active FES Alpha/Beta chapter in the state. Mr. Shah made such a great impact and participation for the FIU Engineers on Wheels Outreach program, that he is featured on the walls of the FIU Engineering Center (EC), as well as the official FIU EC Exposition Pamphlets. After he graduated, he had the opportunity to be the 2019-2020 FES Alpha/Beta Student Chapter’s State Representative as part of the FES Board of Directors, as well as the other two positions previously mentioned. Mr. Shah strongly believes that education is a key tool to success. He also strongly believes that FES is a critical tool to connect to the professional world of engineers.
